Microsoft 365 Copilot Gets 2x Speed Boost and Cleaner Interface

Microsoft says the revamped Microsoft 365 Copilot loads twice as fast as before, with a cleaner interface and better-organized responses rolling out now across desktop and mobile. The redesign is light on specifics about what "twice as fast" actually measures - cold start time, response generation speed, or something else - but the direction is the right one.

Speed matters because sluggish tools get abandoned. Enterprise software follows a consistent pattern: if a feature takes more than a few seconds to open, people route around it. Copilot has faced exactly that criticism since its rollout. A lot of Microsoft 365 users tried it, found the lag annoying, and went back to searching manually or asking a colleague.

The structured-response change may be the more impactful upgrade day-to-day. More organized output means Copilot summaries, action items, and draft emails are easier to skim and edit rather than reformat from scratch. That friction reduction is what separates tools people actually use daily from ones they open once a month.

No pricing changes come with the update. Whether "twice as fast" holds across different network conditions, document sizes, and enterprise IT configurations is still to be tested in the real world - but if Microsoft is even halfway there, it addresses one of the most consistent complaints about the product.
