Muse Spark appears to be an upgrade to Meta AI's visual creation capabilities - the part you use to generate images for posts, stories, and general creative work. Meta AI already had image generation built in; this update sharpens it. Specific details on model changes are limited, which makes it hard to evaluate the size of the jump without testing it directly.
The context matters: Meta AI sits inside apps with billions of active users, many of whom have never deliberately chosen an AI tool. For that audience, Muse Spark doesn't need to beat Midjourney. It just needs to be good enough that users don't leave the app. Social content that gets consumed and forgotten in 48 hours has a lower bar than professional creative work, and "good enough inside Instagram" is a real competitive position.
