Claude Code Has No Account Migration Path for Personal-to-Business Switches

Anthropic's Claude Code doesn't offer a way to migrate data between accounts. Users who started with a personal account and now want to switch to business billing face a clean break: log out, log in with the new account, and start fresh.

Your local files and code stay put - those live on your machine. But session history and project memory (the context Claude Code builds up about your codebase over time) are tied to your individual account. There's no export, no transfer, no merge.

This is a predictable growing pain. Claude Code launched as a developer tool that many people tried on personal accounts. Now that it's becoming a daily driver for professional work, the lack of an account transition path creates unnecessary friction. Your CLAUDE.md files and local project configuration will persist across account changes since they're stored in your repo. The conversation history and learned context won't.

For anyone planning a switch, document anything important from your current sessions before logging out. The institutional knowledge Claude Code has built about your project disappears with the old account.
